The challenge
Power-plant inspections relied on paper checklists, later database entry and separately managed photographs. The information needed to be connected at the point of inspection.
The work
An Android application handled inspection assignments, findings and photographs. PHP and JSON middleware connected the mobile workflow to the existing SQL database.
The result
The initial deployment connected inspectors in Singapore over 4G to infrastructure in Phoenix. Findings and photographs became part of the same inspection record, reducing the administration involved in transferring paper records and matching separate images.
